Stephen McColl was a feared Scottish gangster and gun for hire.
He became a police informant, and would not tolerate anyone talking about him.
1997, McColl, was linked to the murder of Clydebank fireman Ralph Sprott, 35. But he was never charged after a girlfriend supplied an alibi.
Friday 23rd March 2001, Michael Doran vanished after setting out from his home in Salford, Greater Manchester, for a weekend in Scotland with McColl. Police believe McColl used skills he learned working in a Manchester funeral home to dispose of the corpse.
The body of Michael Doran has never been found.
1st November 2003, Philip Noakes, aged-30, vanished after being seen talking to McColl, close to his Salford home. Like Doran, he was a petty criminal who had fallen foul of McColl.
Noakes had worked with McCollt in the past but the two had fallen out just before Noakes went missing. Noakes was tortured and shot in the chest, for thisd murder McColl was with fellow criminal Daniel Henson.
His body was mutilated before being covered with earth in a wood close to the edge of the M62 motorway.
Stephen McColl was already in jail at the time of his trial for a series of armed robberies he carried out with murder co-accused Daniel Henson.
September 2006, At Liverrpool Crown court, McColl denied double murder.
After a ten week trial.
Stephen McColl is given a 'Whole Life Tariff'. See the list of Life mean Life, prisoners here >>
judge Mr Justice Henriques QC told McColl: "Life, in this case, means life and you will never be considered for parole."
